Guna milan (36 gunas)
The traditional marriage match: 8 tests (kootas) on the two Moon signs and nakshatras, worth 36 points.
It is also called Ashtakoota milan. Each koota checks one side of compatibility and has its own points, from 1 (Varna) to 8 (Nadi).
Below 18 is traditionally not advised, 18–24 is average, 25–32 good and 33 or more excellent. It is a first check only: a full match also compares both kundlis, Manglik status and dashas.
